Wacky Work Week

Standard

It was weird being back at work today after having 3 days off. It took me a little while to get back into the swing of things. Check my email, read any notes, etc. Maybe it was more difficult knowing that I only have 4 days left. I feel like there is still so much work to be done but I guess that is for me to pass on to others.

Also, since I am used to working a retail schedule and next week I start regular business hours I am trying to squeeze in the little things I like to do on weekdays. Get my oil changed, haircut, taking Gus to the dog park, to name a few. I just have to remind myself that there will still be plenty of time for all that.

With that being said I finish up work on Saturday, have Mother’s Day off, and start the new job Monday morning! Luckily there won’t be too much time to stress because it is all going to happen very fast!

Spa Day

Standard

Today is my 3rd day off from work! I have really enjoyed the time off. Tomorrow I go back for a 4 day run and then I start my new job on Monday! It will be very hard to say good-bye but that is something to worry about later.

My mom, Sara, my brother’s girlfriend and I are going to the spa tonight! We are going to have some girl time and get massages. I am really excited! It will be the perfect end to my mini vacation.

I have to go to the dentist today. Yuck! I’m not a huge fan of the dentist but it’s time for a cleaning. After it’s all done my teeth always feel so good it’s just during that I don’t like. Since I am home visiting my parents now is the time to squeeze in an appointment.

After the dentist I am going to lunch with my dad and then shopping with my mom until spa time! Can’t wait! It should make for a great day! :)

Identity

Standard

I recently finished readingĀ Identity: Your Passport to Success by Stedman Graham. I thought the book was good. It focuses on becoming successful by knowing yourself and staying positive. Throughout the book, Stedman goes through his 9-step success process and tells personal stories about himself and others who have overcome obstacles, discovered their identity, and become successful.

My favorite excerpt from the book from Jake Steinfeld:

“You look at yourself in the mirror sometimes and know you have a great idea. You write it down at night, and you wake up the next morning with all the excitement and enthusiasm to pull off this idea, this dream, and all of a sudden you start thinking of the reasons why you can’t. By the time you’ve had coffee and gotten into your car, you stop thinking about succeeding because you start toying with the notion that you can’t do this.”

I particularly like this paragraph because this is me. I know that I have good ideas but I just do not know how to follow through and really believe that I can make it happen. For me I have so many ideas it is hard to focus on what I really want to do. There are lots of questions throughout the book with space to answer. I might have to go back through and answer these questions to really get the most out of this book.

If there is one thing that you can take away from this book it is that you can do anything with hard work and dedication. Everyone is equal because we are all given 24 hours in a day. It is how you choose to use those hours that makes the difference. This book leaves you feeling hopeful and positive about where your life could lead.

If anyone has read any related books I would love to hear about them!

Weekly Photo Challege: Unfocused

Standard

For this weeks photo challenge I found this picture from a Lady Gaga concert. We were so high up and so far away it was hard to get any clear pictures. This is the opening of the concert before she even came out. It’s cool because it is her image on the big screen before they raise it to show the stage.

This second “unfocused” picture is Craig and me on our 1 year anniversary. He surprised me by taking me to dinner and then on a horse-drawn carriage ride. This photo is from my iPhone camera. I love this photo because it is one of the best from that night.

Cinqo de Mayo!

Standard

Today is Cinqo de Mayo as everyone knows. I just got home from work and I’m not sure what I am going to do the rest of the night. Maybe I’ll have a margarita.

Next week is my last week of work until I start my new job. I had to do some schedule changes with a few coworkers next week so it turns out I have the next 3 days off!! I’m not sure what I am going to do with all my free time but I’m very excited.

Right now I am watching the Kentucky Derby. I can’t say that I have ever watched this before but I am very intrigued. Ever since watching the movie Secretariat I have been more interested in horse racing. I mean, I don’t know the first thing about horse racing but it’s still fun to watch everyone get excited.

I’m waiting for Craig to get home from Cabela’s so we can make some plans for tonight. Last night was girls night so I haven’t seen him since yesterday morning. We all had a really good time last night though. We went to dinner and then just hung out together which is always nice :)

Baby Geese

Standard

One of the best things about spring is all the new baby animals! We have seen a lot of baby geese around town lately and they are just so cute! Craig was nice enough to pull over and take this picture for me yesterday. (After the crazy morning storm the day ended up being a very nice 80 degrees.) Its kind of hard to see the babies in this picture because they blend in so much with the grass. There are about 5 of them tho!

I borrowed this photo of baby geese because it is just so cute!

On a side note Gus has to go to the vet in an hour for a check up and some shots. Poor baby. He has a terrible rash too so hopefully we can get that all figured out.

Yikes Storms

Standard

It has been gradually getting darker all morning and now it is starting to thunder and lightning. It looks like it is about 9pm it’s so dark out and 5 minutes ago it looked like it was 7pm. I’m not a huge fan of storms. I’m sitting here with my window open because its nice and cool outside but now the rain is starting to come through, dang. Now the satellite has just gone out. I was just looking at weather.com and it says “expect thunderstorms around 10:30am” Well it is 10:28 and it just started pouring. I would say that was pretty accurate. I don’t like this! I hope this ends soon cuz it’s not pretty outside. Baby hail has begun!

The good news is Craig’s grandma gave us a 3 inch thick memory foam mattress topper. She bought it for herself but it turns out it made her bed too high so she gave it to us. I love it! I have never slept so good. Every morning I am up around 6 with so much energy. I have the day off from work today and have already gotten so much accomplished. We are having a friend over for dinner so I’m doing some light cleaning and Craig has some food in the crock pot. It should make for a good night.

It seems like the storm is already settling down. Hopefully the storm will go out as quickly as it came in!

GCB

Standard

Has anyone else been watching the show GCB on ABC? I am loving this show. I think that it will be a very good replacement for Desperate Housewives. I can’t believe the SERIES FINALE is so soon! GCB started out a little slow, having to get used to the characters and the story line, but I think I was hooked around episode 5. Now I might even like it more than Desperate Housewives. I think we all needed some change. The show is very Christian based but it is kept light and funny. The main character Amanda is so down-to-earth and I really like her character. All the characters have such strong personalities and are hilarious when they are together. If you are considering it, I would recommend watching.

Inventory

Standard

Today was inventory day at work. It turned out to be a very successful day and we actually finished up early. We all took lunch at the same time and had a pizza party which was fun.

Craig just got done painting the bathroom ceiling and it looks really nice! We went up to Menard’s and got a new shower curtain too which is exciting. It is actually the same one that we had before. It matches the wallpaper and the wall tile pretty well. We are hoping to take the wallpaper down this summer and paint. After that the bathroom should be completely, completely done (I hope). Craig is in total rework mode. He has just been working on everything lately but I have to say that everything is looking really nice.

I mentioned how Craig and all the guys played paintball last weekend. Well, Craig loved it so much that he actually bought a paintball gun online. He is so excited about it. He never fails to make me laugh. I hope that it pays off and he is able to go out and play often.

Just got done watching New Girl and now on to Fashion Star! What a good night for TV!
